Meet the oral surgeon

Meet Asif Rahman, DDS

Dr. Rahman grew up in Montreal, Canada, an international city full of history, multiculturalism, and character. After finishing his undergraduate studies in microbiology and immunology at McGill University in Montreal, he moved to Omaha to attend dental school at Creighton University. After completing his Doctor of Dental Surgery at Creighton, he attended the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, where he completed a surgical residency to pursue a specialization in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Dr. Rahman has been practicing oral and maxillofacial surgery in Twin Cities for 25 years. He began his career in private practice, then joined a large nonprofit health maintenance organization (HMO) in Twin Cities, where he practiced for 20 years. After that, in 2023, he joined Metro Dentalcare after a close colleague recommended it.

It’s not surprising that Dr. Rahman decided to pursue a career in dentistry because he enjoys using his hands, and dentistry is a very hands-on profession. Dr. Rahman likes all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery. He especially enjoys placing dental implants and restoring a patient’s smile, giving them renewed confidence and the ability to chew and smile.

Dr. Rahman is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the
American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, and the Minnesota Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology, and he has completed advanced training in All-on-4 full arch implants.

Aside from his career in oral and maxillofacial surgery, Dr. Rahman has a loving wife, Shazia, three amazing children, and two cats. He and Shazia enjoy outdoor walks all year round (even when it is 20 below). He also enjoys mountain biking and racquet sports. Dr. Rahman also volunteers in the community, volunteering more than 500 hours a year in social services and civic engagement.

Meet the Team

Ashley

Business Assistant
Ashley has been with Metro Dentalcare Richfield – Oral Surgery since 2022 and is known as the go-to person for just about everything. With a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a minor in Digital Media Studies from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, she brings strong communication skills and a thoughtful approach to patient care, especially when it comes to managing financial or emotional concerns.

Outside the office, Ashley enjoys concerts, shows, and sporting events around the Twin Cities, as well as quiet crafting time at home with her cat, Winston. She loves quilting, crocheting, and listening to music, and proudly considers Winston her only child. Whether answering questions or helping patients feel at ease, Ashley is a valuable part of the Richfield oral surgery team.

Michael

Business Assistant
Michael joined the practice in 2016 in the role of business assistant. He really enjoys facilitating positive patient experiences and helping people get the care they need. He’s always happy to be able to get a patient who needs emergency care into the practice as soon as possible. And, he’s definitely a little sad when patients come in for their last implant appointments and the process is complete. Michael is also known around the office as our in-house IT guy.

Outside of work, Michael is obsessed with screen-printed T-shirts. He also enjoys creating music, watching scary movies, cooking, and visiting farmers markets, as well as occasionally playing video games. Michael is also a cat dad. His cat’s name is Halle Berry.

Aaliyah

Licensed Dental Assistant
Aaliyah completed her associate degree in dental assisting at Hennepin Technical College. She is also certified in IV sedation. The office would fall apart without her ability to maintain a positive attitude, and she keeps the schedule flowing, even when changes happen throughout the day.

Outside the office, Aaliyah is a busy mom of three beautiful children, and she is expecting number four. She has known her partner since she was 14 years old. On weekends, Aaliyah enjoys outdoor activities and taking pictures of her babies. She’s also the girl who always asks, “Do you want to see a picture of my babies?” because she loves them so much.

Rebecca

Registered Dental Assistant
Rebecca went to Dakota County Technical College for her license in dental assisting. She also has certifications in IV sedation and nitrous oxide. Rebecca has worked as a dental assistant for 17 years and loves her job very much.

In her spare time, Rebecca and her boyfriend love agate hunting and geocaching with her son, Austin, who is 13. She also loves running long distances when she can, playing basketball with her son, and having fun outdoors. Rebecca loves the sun, and fall is her favorite time of year. She also has two cats named Nikko and Chester.
